ClipboardFusion can help you scrub text from anything you copy to the clipboard. Separating text from its accompanying format avoids the mess that usually occurs when you paste all the clipboard contents into a document.
This application is rather small with a little footprint. You hardly ever need to use its graphic interface because it runs minimized in the System Tray. Moreover, it allows you to assign keyboard shortcuts so that you will not even need to right-click on its icon. Whenever you copy anything to the clipboard, the program informs you that the copy operation has been successfully completed and shows a thumbnail of the contents. At this point, the program strips text from the formatting, white spaces, HTML tags, hyperlinks, etc. Then, it will be ready to be pasted into any application supporting text editing.
However, the advantages of this application should not be reduced to copying and pasting pure text. By choosing the Settings entry from the contextual menu, you can access the program’s configuration. There you will find additional options. Perhaps you will like the Text Replace feature. This lets you pre-define strings that are to be replaced with others. This way, the program will automatically paste modified text in which the desired strings have already been substituted by new ones. Another great feature is the use of macros. Taking advantage of the almost limitless possibilities of programming, you can use small code to automate various functions. Fortunately, you do not need to know how to program because some macros are readily available for download.
In general, ClipboardFusion is a great application. Although it is completely free, there is an additional paid online service. If you want to keep a single clipboard no matter where you are or what computer you are using, you can subscribe to a “clipboard on the cloud” service. However, you should be aware that this could pose serious privacy issues.
